WE COULD LIE

They make it look so easy
Like they’ve never had a doubt
Like there are no consequences
To just live the here and now
I’m not that kind of person
And I’ll move on somehow

I’ve heard a lot of stories
Certain ones that I’ve condemned
And now I’m the guilty party
And excuses all run thin
I close my eyes and picture you
While I’m lying next to him

You and I
we could lie
And taste  forbidden fruit
You are like a friend and angel
But I still  long for you

This could have been true love
Or a short-lived flame of mine
Sorry I can’t take that road (path)
We’re gonna ruin our two lives
Shed our rings, shed our past
No, I apologize

To everyone who would like to judge
Who I am and who you are
It is so easy to cast the stone
When no tether ties your heart
But we’ll just go our separate ways
And wish on falling stars
